A 42-year-old Alabama teacher and cheerleading coach is accused of having a sexual relationship with two students at her school.
Carrie Cabri Witt was charged with two counts of a school employee engaging in a sex act or deviant sexual intercourse with a student under the age of 19.
The age of consent in Alabama is 16, but a law passed in 2010 made it a felony for school employees to have sex with a student under 19.
Ms. Witt teaches history, psychology and social studies at Decatur High School. She also coaches the varsity girlsâ€™ golf team and and junior varsity cheerleaders.
Sheâ€™s been put on administrative leave with pay while the school investigates the allegations.
The investigation on March 17th when police received information about a teacher in the Decatur City School district having a sexual relationship with at least one student.
While interviewing various people, authorities discovered a second victim.
She was arrested on Monday after police contacted her at her home and took her to headquarters for questioning.
She was booked into the Decatur City Jail and later transferred to the Morgan County Jail in lieu of $10,000 aggregate bond.
