31-year-old Joshua Benavidez and 31-year-old Irene Enriquez from Albuquerque have been charged after allegedly throwing fireworks on a homeless man while he was sleeping on a sidewalk on July 11th.

During a news interview, they claimed that it was a simple prank to startle the homeless man. The victim is being treated at a New Mexico hospital in the intensive care unit for his burns.

Both Benavidez and Enriquez have been charged for aggravated battery with great bodily harm and an additional charge of child abuse was added to their record when the police learned that their children were in the car at the time of the incident.

On Thursday, July 23rd, their bond was set at $100,000 cash or surety.
