A couple in Wisconsin who had too much to drink thought it would be a good idea to let the woman’s nine-year-old daughter to drive them home so they wouldn’t get stopped for drunk driving.

Amanda Eggert and her boyfriend Jason Roth allegedly let her daughter take the wheel, then sat idly by as witnesses saw the pickup truck weave in and out of traffic for several miles along rural roads before pulling into a public boat launch.

A 911 call led a deputy to the truck where he found the couple’s 11-month-old baby strapped into a car seat.

The deputy says the nine-year-old then got out of the truck while it was still running…and in drive…leaving Mr. Roth sitting in the truck by himself.

He turned the ignition off and the truck began rolling backwards down the hill toward the river. The officer jumped in the truck and got the truck stopped.

Both Roth and Eggert blew a .25 on a breathalyzer test, over three times the legal limit.

They’ve both been charged with child neglect and second degree recklessly endangering safety.

Ms. Eggert’s daughter has been placed with relatives.
