A Florida man has been arrested after allegedly attacking a flamingo at Busch Gardens in Tampa Bay.

On Tuesday, at about 6:45 p.m., 45-year-old Joseph Carrao was in the park’s Jambo Junction animal viewing area with his family, when he reached into an enclosure and picked up a flamingo; a Chilean flamingo dubbed Pinky.

Then, to the utter shock of witnesses, he slammed it to the ground “in a rage.”

According to a statement from the park, “Pinky was immediately transported to the park’s Animal Care Center were veterinarians made the decision to humanely euthanize her based on the severity of her injuries.”

Mr. Carrao was arrested and charged with felony animal cruelty.
