A substitute teacher in Sanford, Florida is accused of being drunk in a classroom full of second-graders.

52-year-old Holly Joel, who was working as a substitute teacher at Seminole County Public Schools, was seen by a school secretary, along with another staff member while they supervised a class on Tuesday.

When school principal Martha Garcia asked her to stand, she stumbled and fell. She was also unable to tell them what day of the week it was.

A Sanford Police officer found a pink alcoholic beverage in a water bottle, and said he could smell alcohol on her breath. She also slurred her speech.

Ms. Joel was determined to be under the influence of alcohol, and had “interfered with the learning environment necessary for education”.

She now resides in the John E. Polk Correctional Facility.
