A Florida woman has been arrested after hiding weed in her young niece’s lunchbox during a traffic stop.
33-year-old Tasha Sims was pulled over by Broward County Sheriff’s deputies last week after learning the registered owner of the car she’d been driving didn’t have a valid license.
When the deputy approached the car, he saw the woman’s niece sitting in the front seat without a seat belt and smelled marijuana coming from the car.
After a little prompting, Ms. Sims admitted she’d hidden her weed in the girl’s lunchbox because she was worried about being pulled over with a suspended license.
The officer found a grinder, along with about a gram of weed in the lunchbox.
Ms. Sims was charged with child neglect, possession of marijuana, and driving with a suspended license.
She now resides in the Broward County jail on a $1,000 bond.
The child, who was not Sims’, was released to her mother and the Department of Children and Family Services was notified.
