A 32-year-old physics teacher at Lakewood Ranch High School in Florida has been arrested by the Hardee County Sheriff’s Office for meth possession and more.

Officers arrived at the woman’s residence, which she shared with her husband and 5-year-old child, looking for another man with a warrant for battery on a law enforcement officer. When asked if they’d allow a search, they permitted it.

During that search, officers found various drug paraphernalia which tested positive for methamphetamine. They then found the drug itself and more paraphernalia under a pillow. Lastly, they found a pack of gum which had a nag with 3.8 grams of meth in it.

Hollis Ann Morantes was arrested on the spot, for both the drugs and the fact that they were near her child. Her charge was child neglect.

Her husband, 37-year-old Gabino Truelove Morantes, was also arrested, but for possession, and he admitted he’d been doing meth for more than a year.

Mrs. Morantes was suspended by the Manatee County School District, pending the outcome of the investigation.
