A Hindu monk has been arrested in California after allegedly sexually assaulting at least three different women during so-called healing rituals.
Los Angeles prosecutors say that 62-year-old Gokula Nanda pleaded not guilty after being ordered to stand trial on the claims.
Deputy District Attorney Maren Dermody said that Nanda is charged with six counts of sexual battery by fraud, three counts of sexual penetration by foreign object, and two counts of sexual battery.
The alleged incidents took place at various locations, including his Eastern medicine store in Santa Clarita, as well as a park in Torrance.
He faces a maximum sentence of 19 years in prison if convicted.
His bail has been set at $100,000.
