An Indiana man has been arrested for stalking and harassing a couple because he wasn’t chosen for a position of basketball coach and fourth-grade teacher at a school.
40-year-old Travis Tarrants started harassing a man because he’d been chosen over him for a fourth grade teaching position and a basketball coaching position at Springs Valley School Corporation.
faces two felony charges of stalking, two felony charges of intimidation and two felony charges of criminal mischief in the case.
Authorities contend that Mr. Tarrants made four phone calls to the Department of Child Services with claims that the victim was engaging in a sexual relationship with an underage student, and that he was molesting his fiancee’s daughter.
Tarrants is also believed to have mailed packages of dead animals, four skunks and a raccoon to be more specific, to the Seymour School District Administration building.
The racoon package contained a message that said, “RESIGN! IT WILL NOT STOP.â€
A letter was also sent to the victims’ places of business, one of which was purporting to be from a 15-year-old student. It showed a picture of a man’s genitals and the male victim’s telephone number.
Both also received threatening voicemails, which threatened to kill his fiancee and her baby. Investigators believe the phone number used for the calls was “spoofed†or masked.
Lastly, he’s accused of spray-painting “Fuck u†and “u will die†on the victims’ vehicle’s with white paint.
Search warrants, as you’d expect, turned up white spray paint, clothing with white spray paint on it, a note with the male victim’s name and home address, and receipts for envelopes that matched the ones that were sent.
Tarrants’ girlfriend told authorities that he’d trapped five to seven live skunks in late spring. She said she thought it was odd that he had kept them alive for several days.
