A Jones County patrol deputy initiated a traffic stop on a speeding vehicle on Hwy 58, near the intersection of Hwy 17 in Pollocksville, on October 13th, shortly after midnight. Another patrol deputy responded shortly thereafter. When the initiating deputy made contact with the driver, he realized that she was under the influence of some type of impairing substance and that she was not wearing her seatbelt.
During the course of the stop, deputies interviewed the passenger who provided them with false identifying information. Deputies later discovered that the passenger had numerous outstanding warrants for his arrest from multiple counties.
A consensual search of the vehicle revealed several, controlled, prescription pills outside of their original container. As a direct result of their search and their roadside investigation, deputies took both subjects into custody. A search incident to arrest of the passenger’s person, netted Marijuana and drug paraphernalia as well. Both subjects were taken before a magistrate and charged.
Bobbie Jean Gimmel, 37 of Hubert, was charged with Possession with Intent to Manufacture Sell & Deliver a Schedule IV Controlled Substance(F), Possession of a Schedule IV Controlled Substance, Maintaining a Vehicle for Controlled Substance, Driving While Impaired, Speeding and No Seatbelt. Her bond was set at $6,000 Secured.
William Scott Burton, 38 of New Bern, was charged with Possession with Intent to Manufacture Sell & Deliver a Schedule IV Controlled Substance(F), Possession of a Schedule IV Controlled Substance, Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and was served with multiple orders for arrest for Failure to Appear on traffic related offenses from Onslow, Craven, Pamlico and Beaufort Counties. His bond was set at $9,100 Secured.
Note: Gimmel made bond on October 16th and Burton remains in the custody of the Jones County Jail. Both are awaiting trial and Burton faces additional charges.
