A man walked into a house through an unlocked door in the Venice area of Los Angeles and stole an iPhone. When the thief picked up the phone, he inadvertently activated a video app on the device. This app recorded his face while he was standing in the living room before taking off with the phone.

A woman and two 15-year-old girls sleeping in the house at the time of the burglary were unharmed. The owner of the phone was able to remotely access the video, which has been released by police in the hopes of tracing the suspect.
