52-year-old Martin Holmes of Sheffield, South Yorkshire has been arrested after he followed a 71-year-old woman when she got off the bus and sexually assaulted her at knifepoint in her house.

Despite her pleadings, he demanded money from her, and when she refused to give him more than £10, Holmes ordered her to undress and sexually assaulted her. Then he forced her to go upstairs where he launched a second sexual assault on her and ordered that she to take off her wedding ring.

Holmes left the woman’s home with the wedding band and the money she gave him. The police were able to trace him through CCTV later. During his interrogation, he admitted that he ‘got a buzz from the attack’ and ‘he felt excited’.

Holmes pleaded guilty to two counts of sexual assault and one count of aggravated burglary. He was sentenced to 12 years in prison and will be placed on the sex offenders register for life.
