On October 17, 2013 the Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office CCRT (Community Crime Reduction Team) received anonymous information from a community member of suspicious activity at 3611 Crystal Park Lane, Grifton. Deputy Josh Stocks and Deputy David Curington approached the home about 7:30 p.m. to investigate the information. The officers found the windows of the home blacked out with tarps and blankets. In addition, the home had several video surveillance cameras on its exterior. The officers could not summon anyone to the door and called upon Lt. Eddie Eubanks to assist with the investigation. While walking around the home these officers smelt a strong odor of marijuana coming from a partially open window of the home. Officers were able to make contact with the owner, Clarence Sidney Davis III, who was not at the home at the time. Davis provided consent for the officers to search the home and information as to what the officers would find. After entering the home officers found a marijuana growing operation in two bedrooms of the home. Forty potted marijuana plants ranging from 1 foot to 3 feet were found in the home. A lighting system was rigged in the home to provide light to the plants. Also seized from the home was marijuana smoking pipes and two firearms.
Clarence Sidney Davis III, age 27, of 3611 Crystal Park Lane, Grifton was charged with Manufacturing Marijuana, Possess with the intent to sell/deliver Marijuana, Maintain a Dwelling for Controlled Substance and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Davis received a $12,000 Secured bond and was released to his bondsman.
