Alecia Dotson is a 45-year-old former teacher’s aide and married mother of four calling Florida home. She’d been employed since last year at Highland Grove Elementary School. That game to a swift end when the following occurred.

One of her fifth-grade students, an 11-year-old boy, had a mother who was going through his texts from the last year. While she was, she came across more than 100 of them between Alecia and the boy. They were ‘graphic and sexually explicit,’ according to investigators. She contacted authorities immediately.

While the authorities were still at the young boy’s house, Alecia texted the boy’s phone again. “Love bug what are you doing… I’ll be sure to tell her we won’t have sex on the first visit…LOL,” it said, referring to his mother and a planned visit to the library. While adding it to the evidence, it wasn’t until Tuesday when she sent another text, that detectives hatched a plan.

“Are you awake love bug?” that text said. From that point forward, all texts between the two were actually detectives posing as the boy.

‘The boy’ arranged to meet Mrs. Dotson at the Cinemark Movie Theater in Florida’s Lakeland Mall. On her way there, she had apparently stopped by Spencer’s in that same mall to buy strawberry-flavored warming lube.

Imagine her surprise when it was authorities, and not the boy, meeting her for the movie. She was promptly taken into custody.

She has been charged with attempted sexual battery on a child under the age of 12, using a computer device to solicit a child, and other charges stemming from the incidents.

She was also suspended without pay from her aide position with the elementary school.

Alecia Dotson told detectives that her relationship with the boy had grown from a ‘mentorship, to a crush, to a romantic relationship.’

Her record and employee file had been untarnished before the incidents came to light.

She now sits in Polk County Jail.
