A North Carolina mother who pleaded guilty to prostituting her two mentally disabled teenage daughters $5, $10 or $20 bills has been sentenced to 20 years in prison.

52-year-old Teresa Vanover confessed that she’d allowed men at the local barber shop to perform sexual acts on her daughters in their neighborhood for as little as five bucks.

The money, she reasoned, was used to pay her husband’s medical bills, as well as to buy crack.

She was charged with 24 counts of child abuse by prostitution, and 24 counts of promoting prostitution with a minor with a disability.

She received only the minimum 20-year sentence on three of her charges, and six-and-a-half years for her other 45 charges, to run concurrently.

She admitted that she’d take her 15-year-old daughter to the local barber shop, a boat ramp nearby, one of the men’s mother’s home.

She’d allow the men to perform sexual acts on her daughter, or would make her daughter watch while she engaged in sexual acts with the men.

When her daughter started refusing to participate, Vanover started using her 13-year-old daughter instead.

It all came to light when the 15-year-old told authorities after her father died; she’d surmised that there couldn’t be any more medical bills her mom needed to pay.

“We don’t have to do it anymore because daddy is dead,” she told cops.

Ms. Vanover was arrested back in September of 2015 and confessed immediately.

As a bonus, she led investigators to four men, one of which owned the barber shop in question, 67-year-old Thomas ‘Tommy’ Woodall, along with 67-year-old Everett Ferris Jr, 65-year-old Donnie Carter, and 75-year-old Mickey Snow.

That barber shop has since been closed.

Mr. Woodall pleaded guilty to statutory rape/sex offense with someone over six years old, and abetting prostitution. He’s currently serving a 16-year sentence.

Mr. Ferris Jr pleaded guilty back in March to six counts of patronizing a prostitute and indecent liberties with a child. He was given six-and-a-half years in prison and three years on probation.

Mr. Carter pleaded guilty to two counts of forcible sex, two counts of indecent liberties with a child, and one count of patronizing a prostitute with a severe mental disability. He was sentenced to a minimum of five years and three months in prison, and three years months of probation.

Mr. Snow is set to go on trial in July, and hos not yet entered a plea.
