A North Carolina woman has been arrested and charged with stealing an ambulance from a hospital.
36-year-old Autumn Prieschl was caught by security cameras getting behind the wheel of the ambulance around 10 p.m. at the Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.
The ambulance, which was thankfully empty at the time, had a GPS tracker, so police were able to stop it.
The woman wasn’t under the influence, mentally unstable, or ill…she just needed a ride.
Medical crews had seen her hanging around near the emergency entrance, but didn’t give it anymore thought.
A spokesman says crews often leave keys in their trucks and leave them running so that they can get to an emergency more quickly.
They have 30 trucks, so the theft didn’t disrupt service.
She was charged with larceny of a motor vehicle and trespassing.
