A Pennsylvania couple have been arrested after their 23-month-old girl’s death was ruled a homicide.

Andrea Dusha and Michael Wright were arrested at a custody hearing concerning their other two sons, following the death of their young child on February 24th.

On that late-February day, police were called to the Uniontown Hospital on suspected child abuse. When they interviewed Andrea, she said that the baby girl had become unresponsive while being fed.

“Dusha stated that the child was drinking a mixture of water, Gatorade and Pedialyte from a sippie cup when the child’s eyes rolled back into her head, foam began to emit from the child’s nose and mouth, and the child quit breathing,” according to the criminal complaint

An autopsy revealed the cause of death to be malnutrition and dehydration. 23-month-old Lydia Wright was determined to weigh just 10 pounds; normal being about 26 and a half pounds.

Investigators visited the home where the child had been saying. They found various bottles filled with urine, the toilet filled with feces, a grocery bag on the floor filled with used tampons, multiple bottles of pills, and a hypodermic needle were found.

“The residence was in deplorable conditions and unsuitable for children to be living in,” the criminal complaint continued.

The two have been charged with homicide.
