A Pennsylvania mother who became obsessed with the vegan diet has now been charged with endangering her 11-month-old son.

Elizabeth Hawk was mailed a summons after her baby developed a rash so bad that the little boy was scratching his skin off from the itching.

She’d fed him nothing but fruits and nuts and allegedly refused to even treat the rash.

Hospital staff found in August that the baby is developmentally disabled and can’t even crawl because he’s so malnourished.

Ms. Hawk’s estranged husband contacted child welfare workers Fayette County.  The tiny boy was immediately hospitalized.

The attending doctor said that not treating the rash was “inhumane.”

She’s been charged with child endangerment charge and has a preliminary hearing slated for November.

The child has since been removed from her care and is said to have been making progress.
