In March of 2014, Constables Alex Prentice and Debbie Wishart respond to a call about a domestic incident in Corby, Nottinghamshire. When they arrived on the scene, they were confronted by Lee Vickers who charged at them brandishing an eight-inch kitchen knife.
Vickers continued to charge at the officers despite their repeated warnings to put down the weapon. Constable Wishart eventually managed to distract Vickers and Officer Prentice managed to restrain and disarm him using his police baton.
The confrontation was recorded on Officer Prentice’s body camera. The police department has released the footage to show the bravery of the two officers who were involved in the incident.
Vickers was arrested for possession of an offensive weapon and attempted assault and later jailed for three-and-a-half years.
