A 31-year-old South Carolina woman has been arrested on a charge of filing a false police report, after police claim she made up a story about being raped by four men in order to hide an affair from her husband.

Taffy Timbrelee Wheeler was arrested by Myrtle Beach police after telling them she’d been raped by four men at the beach.

She told her husband, after coming home early one morning, that it happened during an early walk.

She called the police and reported the rape, but investigators became suspicious during follow-up interviews. The information and details she gave seemed to change with each new officer she spoke with.

Wheeler showed police where the supposed rape occurred, but there were no signs of an assault occurring there. The sand wasn’t even disturbed.

She was charged with one count of filing a false police report of a felony and booked into the J. Reuben Long Detention Center. Her bail was set at $1,000.

If convicted, she’s facing up to five years in prison and up to a $1,000 fine.

According to investigators, she’d arranged to have sex with a coworker with whom she’d spent the night.
