18-year-old Brennen Cooper from Indiana was arrested and is being held at the Grant County Jail after dousing his family dog, Bud, in gasoline and lighting him on fire on the 13th of July because he thought his dad wanted the dog gone.
Brennen told the police his dad was very angry because his brother and sisters were not doing anything to train the dog so he decided to take matters into his own hands. He also told the police that his father said he did not care if the dog ran away or got hit by a car because he wanted the dog out of the house. The dog suffered second-degree burns and is expected to make a full recovery.
The teen’s father, Brian Cooper, disputed the claims made by his son and said his son needs to be looked at by doctors.
The father also said that he has been torn apart since his son was arrested. Brennen was charged with a level 6 felony for animal cruelty and is being held on $1,000 bond.
