18-year-old Asa Robert is now on the run after raping an 82-year-old woman in her Brooklyn home on Monday, July 13th.

The senior citizen who suffers from obsessive compulsive disorder, left her house door open that night when she went outside to do some late-night sweeping. During that time, Robert slipped past her and went inside to wait for her.

At around 1:45 a.m., she spotted the intruder kneeling in the darkness of her bedroom. According to the police, Robert held a knife to the woman’s face, lifted her off of the floor by her neck, punched her in the chest, tied her hands behind her back, slammed her into a kitchen wall, and then threw her on a bed and sexually assaulted her.

The woman’s attempt to establish a verbal bond with her assailant likely spared her from a more serious assault or death. Speaking in a gentle tone, the victim asked him about his mother, offered to make him food, and asked if he wanted to take some of her late husband’s clothes.

The victim was forced by her brutal rapist to swear on a Bible that she would not call police or he would kill her and a family member. After raping the senior citizen, he took the time to clean up the shattered glass from a clock that fell to the floor. He also gave the woman a bottle of water. He then walked out of her house with a bag of her late spouse’s shirts and a stolen umbrella, around 6:30 a.m.

The woman called police around 7 a.m. at the urging of a relative and she was taken to Kings County Hospital for evaluation.

Robert, who was captured in a surveillance video, was identified by a fingerprint that the police collected from the crime scene. He also left behind a folding knife that was taken for forensic testing.

Police are asking anyone with information about the attack to call Crime-Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS.
