A Texas mother is accused of putting her 2-year-old daughter into a her oven, causing serious burns.

35-year-old Tasha Shonell Hatcher of Glen Rose was arrested Thursday after the girl was hospitalized with second and third-degree burns.

The girl remains in the hospital, but is in stable condition.

Police were called by witnesses who say Tasha had put the 2-year-old girl into the oven at her home.

It isn’t known if the witnesses were family members or neighbors or what. Other details surrounding what led up to the incident haven’t yet been made public.

The Somervell County Sheriff’s Office said the girl was taken by ambulance to the Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital in Fort Worth and was then flown by air ambulance to the Parkland Burn Center in Dallas.

Hatcher is a single mother and, according to her Facebook page, also has a son. It isn’t known if she has custody of him.

A friend told a Dallas area news station that Tasha, by all appearances, was an attentive and loving mother.

Texas Child Protective Services agency says the girl will be placed into foster care when she’s released from the hospital.

The girl’s uncle told the same news station that he nor any other family members are being allowed to have any contact with the little girl.

The case is still being investigated by the Sommervell County Sheriff’s Office, Child Protective Services, and the Texas Rangers.

Ms. Hatcher was charged with injury to a child with serious bodily injury, which is a first-degree felony.

She was arraigned Saturday and is being held on $300,000 bail,
