26-year-old Sandra Clara McClary of Baltimore Maryland has been arrested and charged after leaving her 6-week-old baby in a car seat on the side of a road in Pasadena on July 4th.

The infant was discovered by a local bishop who was passing by that night and was later taken to a local hospital where she was treated for dehydration. The police believe that the baby was taken out of the car while it was moving due to scuff marks and debris that was found on the carrier.

McClary’s car was later spotted in the area where the child was abandoned after authorities tracked her movements using her car’s license plates.

Lieutenant. T.J. Smith reported at a news conference on July 5th that McClary called to claim the child the day after she was found and after the police department had posted the baby’s photo on social media.

Initially, she told investigators the baby’s father was supposed to have her. But the police said neither of the parents knew where the little girl was. The child is now in the care of Child Services.

McClary faces charges of child neglect and reckless endangerment. Additionally, she is awaiting trial on previous charges of armed robbery and second-degree assault.
