On Tuesday, July 14th, a mother went to the Faith of Life Learning Center in Chesterfield, Virginia to pick up her child from the daycare before its scheduled closing time of 6 p.m. Upon her arrival, she found that all of the employees were gone and the door was locked. The mother then called the police as she thought someone had taken her child.

Shortly after, she heard a child screaming and went to look around back at the playground area and through the center’s windows. When she reached the last window, she saw her son in the classroom by himself, screaming and crying. The Police broke one of the center’s windows to rescue the unharmed child and reunite him with his mother. One of the officers later discovered that a side door was left unlocked.

The owner of the daycare was called in. She spoke to the mother and police regarding the incident. The mother expressed her concerns that anyone could have walked in and taken her son, possibly meaning she would never be able to see him again.

The Police and the Department of Social Services are investigating the incident. At this time no charges have been filed.
