32-year-old Sarah Sands was acquitted of murder but found guilty of manslaughter due to loss of control at her trial, after she took matters into her own hands and stabbed 77-year-old Michael Pleasted, a convicted pedophile, eight times during a confrontation at his home on November 28th while she was intoxicated.

Pleasted had a record stretching back to 1970 for the abuse of young boys. For over 21 years, up til 1991, he was convicted of 24 sexual offenses involving children and was jailed. The shortest sentence was nine months, while the longest spanned six years. He had been charged with two new incidents in the months before his death.

Sands turned herself in after killing Pleasted. Her sentencing was adjourned at the Old Bailey court until mid-September for psychiatric reports to be completed.

Below is CCTV footage of her exiting then re-entering the elevator where Pleasted lived with a butcher knife
