Ashley Kaufmann, 30, an art teacher at Port Jervis High School, faces two misdemeanor charges stemming from the alleged relationship with the student.

Ashley Kaufmann, a 30-year-old fine arts program coordinator at Port Jervis High School in New York, is in trouble with the law after she failed to practice the fine art of keeping her hands to herself.

She was arrested Tuesday after authorities learned of her sordid affair with an unnamed 16-year-old boy. It’s being referred to as forcible touching because the boy is a minor, and in the eyes of the law, unable to consent. She also faces a charge of endangering the welfare of a child.

It seems their illicit affair began in early 2015 and occurred on school grounds and various different places around town, which, according to authorities, included “touching of a sexual nature.” As of yet, there seems to be no indication that any of the liaisons occurred at Ashley’s or the boy’s home or that they ever had full-on intercourse.

Superintendent Thomas Bongiovi told a local paper, “The district is aware of the situation and we have been working with our attorneys on the matter. “The district is presently conducting its own investigation, and due to privacy rights of all involved, I cannot comment any further at this time.”

She’s due in front of a Deerpark County judge on August 5th.
