In a worrying case of yet another “gotta get this on video rather than help” and/or “I better not get involved, lest I become a victim too,” a woman surrounded by hundreds of spring break revelers was set upon by 23-year-old Ryan Austin Calhoun and 22-year-old Delonte’ Martistee, two Troy University (in Alabama) college students, in what police are calling a gang rape on a Panama City, Florida beach.
The two were taken into custody Friday and have been charged with sexual battery by multiple perpetrators.
The assault, which was recorded on a cellphone between March 10th and March 12th, was discovered captured on video while Troy, Alabama police were investigating a separate incident; a shooting.
The video shows several men surrounding what has been described as ‘an incapacitated woman on a beach chair,’ and was what Bay County Sheriff Frank McKeithen, while speaking at a news conference, called ‘the most disgusting, sickening thing’ he’d ever seen.
Expressing that he is expecting law enforcement to make more arrests, he continued, “This is happening in broad daylight with hundreds of people seeing and hearing what is happening, and they are more concerned about spilling their beer than somebody being raped. It is not safe for our children to be out there on the beaches when these animals are out there, conducting themselves like this. This is no more than a group of wild animals preying on a carcass as it’s laying in the woods. [The victim] knowssomething happened, but she doesn’t know what happened.”
She described believing she had been drugged at the time, but didn’t remember enough to report anything.

Delonte’ Martistee and Ryan Calhoun were in Panama City for a court hearing Friday.
