A Florida man was arrested Sunday after he punched a swan in front in of two off-duty police officers.

Two Orlando PD officers happened to be watching a swan and her babies at Lake Eola. 59-year-old Sor Velez then walked between the officers and the mother swan.

The swan then reached up toward Mr. Velez in a defensive posture to defend her offspring.

The officers say that Velez then turned to walk away, then turned back around and punched the swan in the head.

He tried to flee, but was caught by the officers.

He pled no contest to a single charge of endangering wildlife on public property.

He was given 10 days in jail.
