A former assistant professor at the University of Missouri was arrested after it’s alleged he grabbed a 14-year-old female relative by her hair, slapped her, then dragged her by the hair down some stairs and to his car – all for not wearing her hijab in school.

53-year-old Youssif Z. Omar reportedly did this at Hickman High School in Columbia, Missouri, on Tuesday.

Officer Officer Latisha Stroer told a local paper that he grabbed her ‘very violently by the hair’.

The married former assistant professor, originally from Benghazi, Libya and whose LinkedIn profile purports he was the head of the English department at the University of Benghazi Wahat Branch from 2003-2007, was arrested the next day at his home for child abuse.

He was released after posting a $4,500 bond.
