A quick-thinking woman in Georgia may have saved her own life.
27-year-old Robert Giles took the unnamed woman from her home, then took her to the parking lot of an adult store to rape her around 4 a.m. Monday morning.
It was at that time that he told the victim to call her boyfriend so he could listen to what was being done to her.
In a situation where most would struggle to think at all, she thought to call 911 instead of her boyfriend.
The 911 operator quickly caught on to what was happening and played along.
He sent police to the parking lot of Starship Novelties and Gifts in nearby Jonesboro, Georgia.
Clayton County Police Major Joe Woodall said, “They were able to stop it right then and there and snatched him right from the car.”
Police say that the 911 call is to graphic to release, but describe it as “horrific”.
Giles was arrested and charged with rape, obstruction, and false imprisonment. Kidnapping is expected to be added to the charges.
