A man from Troy, Maine pleaded guilty to attempted aggravated assault after choking a 12-year-old boy as a joke.

22-year-old Paul Hustus, last summer, “playfully” put his hands around the boy’s neck.

But he kept them there for several minutes, causing the boy to nearly black out.

Mr. Hustus was given a deferred sentence and, if he stays out of trouble for a year, he can then later plead guilty to a less serious charge of assault and be fined.

He faces jail time if he doesn’t.
