18-year-old Jesus Deniz Mendoza from Worland, Wyoming has been arrested after he shot and killed a couple that was trying to help him. On Wednesday, July 29th, at around 10:30 a.m., Mrs. Tana Shane saw Mendoza, who appeared to be stranded on the road in Pryor. She drove home to get her husband, Jason Shane, and her daughter, Jorah Shane, in an attempt to help the man.

The couple drove Mendoza to the nearest store so he could pick up gas for his motorcycle. When they returned, he pointed the gun at Mr. Shane’s head, told him to get out of the car, and demanded they hand over money…then he shot them.

The couple died, but their daughter managed to escape after she was shot in the back and a bullet grazed her in the head. She ran to a nearby school and found a ride back to her house. She then returned to the scene of the incident with several other family members. She was later taken to a hospital in Billings.

Mendoza fled the scene of the murder in the couple’s Pontiac. He was later found by the police outside of Meeteetse and taken into custody. Currently, he is being held in Park County, Wyoming. The Bureau of Indian Affairs in Crow Agency and the Federal Bureau of Investigation are conducting the investigation of the incident.
