A married 31-year-old middle school teacher in Michigan is one the latest to take a child down a forbidden road.

Jamee Hiatt has been married for eight years and has two kids under seven. She’s not allowed to be around those children now. This comes about after she was found to have had sex with a 13-year-old male student several times.

She was arrested on January 22nd after authorities found evidence of a relationship with one of her students.

The relationship is said to have taken place during the 2013-2014 school year when she was a teacher at Leslie Middle School. The victim, now 14, was 13 years old at the time.

Mrs. Hiatt confessed to the relationship after confronted with the accusations, according to Jackson County Assistant Prosecutor Jennifer Walker, saying she’d had sex with the boy on at least five occasions.

The victim, on the other hand, said it was more like every other day.

She offered him a cellphone, gave him money, and even tried to file for guardianship over him so that he could live with her.

She was arraigned Monday on one count of first-degree criminal sexual conduct with multiple variables, which carries a maximum sentence of life in prison, and one count of third-degree criminal sexual conduct with a person at least 13, but younger than 16. That charge carries a maximum sentence of 15 years.

Judge R Darryl Mazur ordered her held on $250,000 bail. If she somehow posts her bond, she’s barred from having contact with the victim, as well as any other children – including her own two.

She’s due back in court on February 11th for a preliminary examination.
