A captain with the NYC Fire Department was hauled out of his station house by an FBI task force on September 26th on charges that he sexually assaulted 11-year-old twin boys in California between September 12th and September 14th.

52-year-old Wilbert Riera had purportedly been visiting relatives when the incidents occurred. He was transported to Los Angeles last Wednesday and charged with six counts of a lewd act upon a child.

The complaint against him lists six lewd acts he committed against two boys identified as Justin C. and Jordan C., “with the intent of arousing, appealing to, and gratifying the lust, passions, and sexual desires of the said defendant and the said child.”

Riera, who had over 20 years of service with the NYC Fire Department as a captain with the Emergency Medical Service, was suspended without pay before resigning his post.

He’s pleaded not guilty to the felonies at the downtown L.A. criminal courts building.

He faces life in prison if he’s convicted. Meanwhile, his bail has been set at $2.6 million.

He’s due back in court on November 13th.
