Katrina Danforth, the former adult film actress who pleaded guilty last year to soliciting an undercover police officer to kill the father of one of her children, will spend the next 10 years in prison.

Danforth, 32, who appeared in adult films under the name Lynn Pleasant, was sentenced in a federal courtroom in Coeur d’Alene on Tuesday afternoon after pleading guilty in December to a single criminal count of seeking a contract killing. Danforth had asked for a prison sentence of a little more than seven years.

Police arrested Danforth at Spokane International Airport in December 2018. Investigators say Danforth discussed hiring a hitman with an acquaintance, and that she arranged to meet with him in October 2018 to discuss killing the father of one of her children for $5,000.

The two communicated via phone call and text for the next month, and Danforth sent a “thank you” card with $2,500 as an apparent down payment on the killing to his address in Montana.

Defense attorneys argued Danforth had a troubled childhood, including sexual violence, prior to her involvement in adult films. They said she had been training to become a paralegal while awaiting sentencing in federal court.

The sentence also includes three years of probation and a $1,000 criminal fine.

Samantha Mears, 20, from Montana, charged with forcing her ex-boyfriend to have sex after breaking into his home and wielding a machete. Mears was sentenced to 20 years in state custody over the June 2018 incident which happened at the victim’s home in Great Falls.

Her case was postponed shortly after her arrest when doctors hired by prosecutors and defense agreed that she was not fit for trial last year.

Mears broke into the victim’s home while he was out at the gas station.

When he arrived back, Mears came out from behind a bedroom door, ‘came up behind him and placed a machete under his throat,’ according to a probable cause document obtained by The Smoking Gun.

She then ordered him to get on the bed, remove his clothes and then she climbed on top of him. The victim told police that he became aroused after seeing Mears without any underwear on and he engaged in intercourse with her.

The man told cops that Mears–who was holding the machete–bit him on the arm and “continued to have sex with him after he attempted to end” the encounter. The man added that, after ejaculating, he sought to “push Mears off of him to end the intercourse,” but she “continued to have sex with him until he was no longer erect.”

The man eventually fled the residence and called 911.

Two months before the sex assault, Mears was arrested for allegedly strangling her boyfriend. As a condition of her release from custody, Mears was ordered to have no contact with the victim and was prohibited from possessing any weapons. (4 pages)

Police have charged a Montana man with assault after witnesses say he threw a 13-year-old boy to the ground because he was “disrespecting the national anthem.” Curt James Brockway, 39, was arrested Saturday at the Mineral County Fair and charged with assault on a minor, according to Sheriff Mike Boone. Brockway slammed the child on the ground because he did not remove his hat during the national anthem, witnesses told KPAX. Taylor Hennick told The Missoulian that Brockway said “he had every right to do that,” because the boy was disrespecting the anthem. “There was a little boy lying on the ground,” she told the outlet. “He was bleeding out of his ears, seizing on the ground, just not coherent.”
