Vanilla Ice, whose real name is Robert Matthew Van Winkle, has been arrested for theft after missing items were discovered in a Florida house he was renovating.

Known for his 1990 smash hit ‘Ice Ice Baby,’ The 47-year-old had voluntarily met with investigators to give a sworn statement when he was taken into custody for allegedly stealing furniture from a vacant house that was in the process of foreclosure, while renovating another one nearby for his reality show, ‘The Vanilla Ice Project,’ which he has hosted on the DIY Network since 2010.

The items missing were various furniture, bicycles and a pool heater. When some of these items were found in Van Winkle’s Possession, police determined he had played a part. He is working with the investigators and will be formally charged, likely with burglary and grand theft, when he gets booked into the Palm Beach County jail.

Having run-ins with law enforcement is nothing new to Van Winkle, however. He has been arrested for threatening a homeless man with a gun in 1991, and for an assault on his wife in 2001. In the latter incident, he claims the two were in a heated argument while driving when he pulled her hair, supposedly trying to stop her from jumping out of the vehicle. For that, he was only given probation and was ordered to take part in family therapy sessions.

He apparently didn’t learn, however, because he was arrested in 2008 for assaulting her yet again. He claims, though, that ‘he only pushed her,’ was released the following day, and the charges were dropped two weeks later. The “happy” couple have been married since 1997 and have two daughters.
