The mother of a 20-year-old woman who was found gouging out her own eyes while outside of a church is speaking out about how her daughter is recovering — and warning others about the dangers of illegal drugs.

Kaylee Muthart frightened local residents in Anderson, South Carolina, when they found her gouging out both of her eyes with her own hands while in a drug-induced hallucination on February 6. In her delirium, the young woman fought off help from locals who tried to stop her. It eventually took a team of deputies to control Kaylee long enough to render aid before she was placed on a stretcher and flown to the trauma unit at Greenville Memorial Hospital, where doctors worked to clean what was left inside her orbital sockets to prevent infection. Once Kaylee’s mother arrived, doctors broke the news that her daughter was completely blind.

“That was a struggle, I can’t even explain that feeling when I found out, it was horrifying. Complete terror,” Katy Tompkins—mother to Kaylee and six other children—tells PEOPLE. “I was thankful she was alive, but I knew something was wrong with her.”

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – A Charlotte woman reported to jail Friday morning after she baptized her daughter.

The court case goes back a couple of years to when Kendra Stocks and Paul Schaaf were in a custody battle over their daughter. According to court documents, the two could never agree to the terms of their daughter’s baptism.

“It’s just very sad. It’s all just a very sad situation,” Stocks told Channel 9.

Court records said Schaaf is a practicing Catholic who attends Mass every week, and that ultimately the court granted him final decision-making authority on all legal custody decisions, including decisions concerning religion.

Both parents were warned that they could go to jail if they ignored the warning. But the next day, Stocks went out and baptized her daughter, according to court documents.

Schaaf found out about the baptism on Facebook, documents showed.

The court documents stated that “the mother has acted selfishly by depriving the father of the ability to be present at an event that was extraordinarily important to him.”

The judge found Stocks in contempt of court and sentenced her to seven days in jail.

Police say the carjacking happened just before 8:30 a.m. Wednesday on the 14400 block of Gilmore Street. Nearly an hour and a half later, Aranda entered the nail salon, where police said he began “hitting three women inside for no reason.” Video of the incident appears to show Aranda swinging a chair and attacking the victims until employees from a neighboring business arrived and restrained him. Two of the women, sisters, immediately fought back, hitting Aranda with chairs as he attacked them, video from a security camera shows.

911 calls on Monday 07/24 evening were made saying a naked man in his 20s appeared to be high on acid when he cut his own penis off. Big guy then began vandalizing parked cars and taunting witnesses near the intersection of Grace Street and Drake Avenue in the Irving Park community of Chicago, next to Johm B Murphy Elementary, before being tased multiple times by responding officers.

The middle-class community of Irving Park which has some of the lowest reported crimes in the city are overseen by the Jefferson Park (16th) and Albany Park (17th) Police Districts. The Florida man who claimed his girlfriend choked to death during oral sex was found not guilty of second-degree murder. Richard Patterson, 65, of Margate, was acquitted of killing 60-year-old girlfriend Francisca Marquinez in 2015 after a week-long trial.

During the trial, his lawyers initially argued that Marquinez died accidentally while performing oral sex on him at her apartment. To bolster their defense, Patterson’s lawyers filed a motion to show his penis to the jury.

But after a medical expert testified that choking during the sex act was unlikely, the defense reversed course on the theory. The judge never ruled on the request to put Patterson’s member on display in court.

An Illinois man is has been arrested and charged for allegedly punching a donkey square in its face. He recorded the act and posted it to his Twitter account.

18-year-old Lucas Dietrich carried out the shocking act while at Willoughby Farm attending a birthday party late last month.

According to investigators, he punched the 13-year-old miniature Mediterranean donkey, named Amore, below its right ear. Luckily, it didn’t sustain serious injuries.

Authorities found about it after being alerted that a video of the incident had been uploaded to Twitter.

He was arrested on a two misdemeanor animal cruelty charges and booked into the Madison County jail.

He was released after posting $5000 bond and is next due in court on April 27th.

A Florida substitute teacher and a chaperone were both arrested for hosting two separate alcohol and drug-fueled spring break parties for underage high school students.

28-year-old Walton McClendon Johnson (above) was arrested and charged with 13 counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor this past Friday.

Walton County sheriff’s deputies were responding to a call about a naked woman in the road with two men.

When deputies arrived on the scene, there was no naked woman, but they heard a house party going on nearby and spotted two intoxicated men leaving the house.

One of those men was Johnson. He told the deputies that he was the guardian of students with the Montgomery School District in town on their senior trip.

He admitted to authorities that there were underage people inside the house drinking in their rooms.

He further claimed that he knew alcohol was being consumed by minors, but hadn’t purchased or provided it to them.

As deputies approached the house, they noted several open containers of alcohol visible through the window in the door.

Once let inside, they found several cases of beer and a plethora of bottles of liquor in plain view.

In all, the deputies found 34 underage people consuming alcohol, 13 of which were under the age of 18.

Authorities also found Xanax, Adderall and weed spread throughout.

Twenty-one people were taken into custody for alcohol possession. 13 others were released and given a court date.

Just a few hours before Mr. Walton was busted, other Walton County sheriff’s deputies had responded to a noise complaint from another home where several high school girls from the same school district were drinking alcohol in a group of around 40 to 50 people.

42-year-old Misty Dell Brooks (above) told cops that the students were “on their senior trip and were going to drink.”

As in Walton’s case, Ms. Brooks claims she didn’t provide the alcohol to the students, but told the deputies to check the students’ wallets for fake IDs that had likely been used to buy it.

When one of the deputies asked one of the girls if there was any alcohol left, she informed him that the kids who’d taken off had taken it with them.

A deputy saw three liquor bottles on top of the refrigerator and several more bottles elsewhere inside the home.

She was arrested and charged with hosting an open house party.

Both Brooks and Walton have since been released.

The students went to two different private schools – Montgomery Academy and St. James School.

An Alabama man revealed a little more than he bargained for while being booked into jail on a public intoxication charge. It seems a handgun, and a stolen one at that, popped out of his rectum. He now faces more charges for that.

23-year-old Jesse O’Neal Roberts was taken into custody for public intoxication after a homeowner spotted him prowling around in his garage and called authorities. That resident held O’Neal at gunpoint until officers arrived.

As he was being booked into the Limestone County Jail, he was seen walking a little funny. During a search, something reared its ugly head from a place few want to know about. At first, the corrections officer thought the inmate had defecated himself, according to his report. But it turned out to be worse; a gun.

The gun turned out to be a Jimenez .380-cailber pistol, an example of which can be seen below, that had been reported stolen out of Florence.

In addition to the public intoxication charge, he was charged in connection with stolen property and carrying a concealed weapon without a permit.

On March 12th, police were called to a Key West Florida hotel after staff had called a room upon hearing a disturbance and the man who answered was crying.

It turns out she and her vacationing husband had gone up to their room to have sex and got into an argument. While having intercourse, the dental hygienist (irony much?) bit her orthodontist husband on the shoulder.

42-year-old Jennifer Rahe Hickman was taken into custody at the oceanfront Southernmost Beach Resort after her husband Eric told cops that the two had been drinking and started to argue when after she accused him of using her. They still decided to have sex, and the seemingly non-passion-related bite occurred.

He declined medical attention, but cops noted in their report that he had “a bright mark, redness and bruising on the left forearm.”

Mrs. Hickman was charged with misdemeanor battery and reportedly yelled, “I’m going to fucking kill him” and screamed the entire ride to jail.

A woman in Florida, originally from Mexico, was busted for paying Mexican smugglers to bring a young mother into the United States to be her surrogate. She then held the woman captive for two and a half years.

47-year-old Esthela Clark, originally from Guadalajara, Mexico, has confessed to smuggling the unnamed 26-year-old victim in after promising to pay her $3,000 to carry her baby for her.

Ms. Clark has children of her own, now adults, but had struggled to conceive with her boyfriend between 2012 and 2015.

The victim was brought from Piedras Negras in Couahila by bus into Texas. She was then taken to Jacksonville, Florida by smugglers. There, she was picked up by Clark and her family in 2012.

They lived together and Clark tried to inseminate her with her boyfriend’s semen up to four times a day while she was ovulating.

When that failed, she forced her to have sex with strangers. She’d then keep the condoms to try more insemination. When none of that worked, she started giving her nothing but cold beans from a can for food, claiming the victim was too fat to get pregnant.

Other incidents include Ms. Clark making her sleep in bleach, forcing her to strip when she was accused of stealing, hitting her with a metal stick, and forcing her to wash her car in very little clothing in cold weather.

She let the woman work, but kept all of her earnings. All the while, Clark threatened her family in Mexico if she ever attempted to escape.

A member of their church suspected abuse and contacted police to rescue the woman.

Clark has pleaded guilty to forced labor as part of a plea deal with prosecutors. She’s facing up to 20 years in prison. She faces deportation if it’s determined that she entered the country illegally.

A medical assistant at Bristol Court Assisted Living Facility in Florida was arrested on March 22nd after she covertly recorded two of the nursing home facility’s residents having sex, then put it up on her Snapchat.

20-year-old Alexis Williams secretly recorded an 81-year-old woman and a 59-year-old man having sex back in August. The couple had no idea.

The arrest didn’t come until Wednesday because authorities were shoring up their evidence in the case.

Investigators obtained a confession, surveillance footage and her Snapchat records.

When detectives asked her why she did it, she purportedly said she did it for her own amusement.

She’s been charged with one count of video voyeurism and one count of video voyeurism dissemination.

She was fired from her job immediately after the company was made aware of the incident.

An Oregon daycare operator was just indicted on over 100 counts after allegedly leaving children as young as six months old alone repeatedly over eight days to go to a tanning salon and the gym.

31-year-old January Neatherlin was, to be more specific, indicted on 76 counts of criminal mistreatment and 38 counts of reckless endangerment.

Ms. Neatherlin had been arrested last week after cops found seven kids ranging in age from six months to four years alone in her home where she operated Little Giggles Daycare.

She’d done so on at least eight different occasions between March 3rd and March 15th, the day she was taken into custody, after authorities got a tip and decided to keep an eye on the home.

Officers would watch as parents dropped off their kids, then saw Ms. Neatherlin drive off a few hours later. Cops then moved in, for the safety of the children, and found them alone.

Little Giggles Daycare had already been investigated two other times by state child welfare advocates.

In 2014, she was found caring for more children than is allowed by law before needing a license. She was told to drop that number to three children or less.

In 2015, she was investigated again for a similar offense, but no evidence was found.

She did get a business license in 2010, but it expired in 2012 and was never renewed.

She’s been ordered to have no contact with seven specific children, their parents, can have no unsupervised contact with her own son, a minor, and avoid minors in public.

A group of boys in Chicago are alleged to have raped a 15-year-old girl and streamed it on Facebook Live. Roughly 40 people watched the brutal assault unfold, and not one saw fit to do anything about it.

Cops only discovered what had happened after the victim’s mother approached Chicago Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson as he was leaving a news conference late Monday.

She showed Superintendent Johnson screenshots of the assault. He’s since told a local new station, “What’s even more disturbing, more than the fact that they did this, there were so many people that saw this and they didn’t pick up the phone and dial 911. That’s just not right and (we’re) working on it and trying to bring it to a successful resolution.”

He’s ordered an investigation, and the department asked Facebook to pull the video offline. They complied.

The freshman victim had been reported missing after she didn’t return to home from the store. Her uncle somehow came across the video of the boys raping his niece, and she wasn’t found until Tuesday morning.

According to authorities, she appeared to be in “good condition”. She was then handed over to her mother.

The principal at Wisconsin’s Trinity Lutheran School suspended a 12-year-old female student for selling sex toys to other kids. It turns out, however, that they were just “water snake wigglies”.

Frances Halbeck was sent home for three days when administrative staff learned about her sale for a charity dedicated to helping autistic kids.

The girl had received permission from her homeroom teacher to sell the toys in between class. Those toys were nothing more than bags filled with water.

Pamela Amling, the principal, didn’t see it as so innocent and suspended Frances.

The girl claims she was pulled out of a basketball game by the principal herself and scorned in front of her peers.

When she went home and told her father, Milt Halbeck, what had transpired, he was none too happy.

Even more surprisingly, the school board met to discuss the issue and sided with the principal.

Mr. Halbeck is trying to generate public support and says he won’t rest until his daughter’s suspension is cleared from her record.

Two 16-year-old boys in Utah have been arrested and charged after one of them shot a 14-year-old girl in the head. Why? One of them says he was tired of her constantly messaging him on Snapchat.

The duo carried out the brutal attack on Deserae Turner and left her for dead on February 16th.

She’d previously considered the boys, unnamed due to their ages, her friends.

One of the boys talked to her while the other snuck up behind her and shot her in the head. They left her in a canal to die.

She was in a state of disbelief when she learned what happened.

After the shooting, they stole her backpack which contained her cellphone and iPod.

She’d met the boys at the canal to buy a knife.

The shooter’s initial plan was to slit her throat and leave as she bled out. They decided it would be too noisy, so settled on shooting her.

One of the two took a shell casing home as a memento.

The bullet still remains lodged in Deserae Turner’s skull.

She was found barely alive by two women who were searching for her.

She was placed in a medically induced coma.

They’ve been charged with attempted murder, aggravated robbery and obstructing justice.

May 8th is their next day in court to decide if they’ll be tried as adults or juveniles.
