40-year-old Matthew Skalitzky and his 68-year-old mother, Jane Skalitzky, had just had a family breakfast at Matthew’s parents’ home on September 11th when Jane offered him a ride home.

When the two arrived at the home that Matthew shared with a roommate, that roommate says Jane greeted him and was ‘friendly’, while Matthew looked “distant and emotional” about something.

The two had just arrived and headed upstairs. Very soon thereafter, the roommate says he heard ‘stomping noises,’ followed by Mrs. Skalitzky screaming “no, no, no,” coming from his bedroom.

He immediately bolted up the stairs, and when he got to the room, according to Sun Prairie police, he saw Jane’s ‘body lying separately from her head’.

He then immediately ran outside to call 911.

When police arrived, they found a four-foot sword covered in blood on the porch and Matthew coming down the stairs inside.

When asked if his mother was dead, he’s purported to have said, “Yes, but she’s not my real mother.”

He was arrested without incident and taken to a mental health facility for evaluation.

The investigation into the grisly murder continues.
